Armintie Price Chat Transcript

All season long, Tuesdays mean WNBA action on ESPN2. This Tuesday, August 7, the Chicago Sky host the Indiana Fever in a game with serious Eastern Conference playoff implications.

After winning just five games all of last year, the Sky sit only one game out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the East, and rookie star Armintie Price and her teammates will be doing their all to stay in contention.

In her first pro season, the athletic Price is making a serious run at the Rookie of the Year award, starting all 28 games for Chicago and averaging 8.3 points and 6.4 rebounds a night. The 22-year-old guard sits down to take your questions Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.

Tiffany(chicago): Hi, Armintie! First I would like to say that you are a great player. I really enjoy watching you play. Also, I really enjoyed meeting and talking with you. My question is with the sky recent struggle, What does the team need to do to get past Indiana tonight and achieve the #1 goal of make the playoffs this year? I luv you so much! Keep up the great work! Thanks! and much luv from your #1 fan Tiffany

Armintie Price: (1:03 PM ET ) First of all thank you for the wonderful words. The first thing we need to do is play together. We've been struggling in the third quarter. We need to come out and attack and have our mind set on the playoffs.

Shakera, 13: Do you think that your team can win 5 games to close out the season? What do you think the playoff chances are?

Armintie Price: (1:04 PM ET ) I do think our team can win our last five games of the season because we know we need to win to make the playoffs. We've played most of these teams already so we know what to expect. We just need to play hard. it's going to come down to who wants it most. Who is going to go out and dive for loose balls and play the hardest.

Courtney: (Milton, Wisconsin): First of all I think you are a great basketball player and I was at the game when you played Phoenix and you were amazing to watch. I was wondering if you have given thought to being in the running for Rookie of the Year. Good luck the rest of the season and hopefully in the playoffs

Armintie Price: (1:06 PM ET ) I have been told a lot that I'm up for Rookie of the year. I try not to think about it much. I feel that God has already made that choice. It was one of my goals was to be Rookie of the year but that was just a goal that I set for myself. If I get it, that's great, but if I don't whoever does get it will be well deserving.

Adalys: (Crawford, MS):: What is the major difference between college ball and pro ball for you?

Armintie Price: (1:07 PM ET ) The major difference from college to pro is that every night I'm playing against five superstars. I either want to take their picture or get their autograph. The major difference is playing against 11 all stars on the other roster and playing with some on my team as well/

Chynna Turner Houston,Texas: How much would it mean to you to make it to the playoffs in your rookie season?

Armintie Price: (1:09 PM ET ) It would mean a lot because everyone coutned Chicago out. it reminds me of College at Ole Miss my freshman year, they didn't think we would make it to the tournament and we did. It would mean a lot to the organization, the fans and us as players. You always want to do things that people say you can't do so it would be amazing.

Tori (Macon,GA): Congrats on the outstanding rookie season you've been having. How have the veterans like Candice, Dominique, and Jia influenced your play and what is it like playing with them?

Armintie Price: (1:10 PM ET ) They've influenced me a lot. If I make a mistake, they are always patting me on the head and telling me me to let it go. Chasity is the one that keeps telling me "Keep playing hard AP." They keep me positive and tell me that goes things are going to come.

Janae fort washington,Maryland: Do some players pick on you because you're a rookie? If they do, what are some of the things they do?

Armintie Price: (1:11 PM ET ) None of my teammates pick on me, they're pretty cool about it, they don't treat us like rookies. If this was a veteran team that was in the league for a while that might be different, but we're a new team and we're just trying to come together and win some games.

LaTia (Chicago, IL): What has been your favorite team moment with the Chicago Sky so far this year?

Armintie Price: (1:13 PM ET ) My favorite team moment after every shootaround we shoot halfcourt shots and if you make it you get some money and Stacey Dales always sings the Chicago Sky song and its really funny. We always joke around and make fun of each other. Its nice when players like Jia, Candice and Stacey let their guards down and have fun.

Krystal from Chicago,IL: I heard that u were from Cotton Plant,MS. I just want to know how you're liking Chicago?

Armintie Price: (1:14 PM ET ) I'm liking it. I kind of miss the cows and grass. Chicago is a lot of smoke and buildings and cars. I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin so I know the city life a little. I moved to Mississippi in the fourth grade.

destiny romulus, michigan: i would like to say hi im a big fan.my question is who is your hardest person to guard?

Armintie Price: (1:15 PM ET ) The hardest person for me to guard, and our team, is Tamika Catchings, who is not playing tonight. I hope she gets back soon, but I saw her today at shootaround and told her not to rush back tonight. I had a chance to meet her earlier this year and it was awesome.

KD (Chicago, IL): First, I'd just like to say you're one of my favorite players on the Sky! I see how you all run plays which sometimes end up being a lob to you for the lay-up, but can you really dunk? It seems you can out-jump anybody in the building.

Armintie Price: (1:16 PM ET ) I can dunk a tennis ball, but I can't dunk a basketball because I can't palm it. If you ask if I can dunk, I have to know what ball I'm playing with.

chARLES ADSIDE, chesterfield mi: Are you working on an outside shot? If so, what are you doing?

Armintie Price: (1:18 PM ET ) I am working on an outside shot. I'm working with our shooting coach Stephanie White. She has me making a 100 shots a day on the outside. Its different than in college becuase I didn't have to shoot it as much there. But I'm getting used to it now.

Tiffany Columbus, OH: Armintie since you have made it to the professional league what is your drive to keep going?

Armintie Price: (1:19 PM ET ) My drive is being a MVP, stepping up my game and knowing I'm a WNBA player. I'm still surprised sometimes I say to myself "I think they made a mistake." I want to keep working so I can feel like I'm a Lisa Leslie, Tina Thompson or Tamika Catchings. I need to keep working on my game and become a complete player.

Edilvia Chicago,Illinois: Hey Armintie well first off I love how you play! Now my question is who was your inspiration growing up?

Armintie Price: (1:21 PM ET ) My inspriation was my mom, kind of hard to say because she didn't want me to play. I didn't play until 8th grade. I wasn't going outside playing when I was growing up, we are a very religious family. One of my friends in high school asked me to play. Once I started playing I made it my job to be good at whatever I was doing. My dad always told me that practicing you'll never lose, so I'm just working hard.

Armintie Price: (1:22 PM ET ) Thank you all for wanting to chat with me and hopefully I answered all of your questions. keep watching the Sky and pray for us to make the playoffs. We love you!
