Team of the Week #7: North Chicago

North Chicago Community High School began this season with an ambitious goal after winning their conference championship last season and the Class 3A State Championship. This team wanted to prove they could repeat both honors.

The Warhawks recently won the North Suburban Conference with a 9-3 record and currently have a total record of 19-9. Last week the Warhawks beat Grayslake Central in the 3A regional finals. They will now move on to play in the sectional semifinals this week.

This team may have been considered underdogs last season but this season no-one is surprised they are well on their way to repeating as state champions.

North Chicago Community High School features a roster of 10 well-rounded students, all of which belong to clubs and organizations both at their school and in their surrounding communities.

As a Chicago Sky “High School Team of the Week” award winner, North Chicago Community High School is invited to enjoy a Chicago Sky game, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court.

All teams that compete in IHSA 1A, 2A, 3A or 4A competitions are eligible to win a weekly honor. Nominations from parents, coaches, school faculty members and players are welcome and should be completed on the Chicago Sky website through March 19.

At the end of the 10-week program each weekly winning team will be entered to win the “High School Team of the Year” award for 2014. The winner, determined through online voting, will be announced at halftime at a 2014 Chicago Sky game.
