Team of the Week - Morton High School

The Morton High School Girls Basketball Team finished the season with a .500 record at 14-14. They faced considerable adversity on court throughout the season with a variety of injuries to key players requiring them to make unexpected adjustments. This adversity was embraced by the players and they believe that the determination and dedication they were forced to display gave them an edge this season and into the future.

The Lady Mustangs took that dedication and determination and applied it to the community work they undertook throughout the season. On February 1st the team hosted a “Think Pink” game when they hosted rival Downers Grove South. The girls worked in conjunction with the school’s senior week to help raise money for breast cancer awareness. The Lady Mustangs hope to continue this tradition of raising money to help increase breast cancer awareness in future years.

As a “Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week” award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to the 2013 Sky Youth Sports Night game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognizing their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a varsity girls “High School Basketball Team of the Week” award winner every week until March 27th, 2013. For more information about “Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week,” click here or to nominate a team click here.
