Sky vs. Fever

The Sky is partnering with textile recycling company USAgain for “Go Green” night to encourage fans to donate clothing, textiles and shoes. All fans who drop off a donation at the July 22 “Go Green” game will receive a free ticket voucher to a future 2014 Sky regular season home game.

Tuesday’s matchup between Chicago and Indiana marks the fourth game of the teams’ five-game series this season, and the second time the teams have faced each other in the past six days. The Fever leads the 2014 series two game to one. Chicago will look to build momentum after the All-Star break with a win at home against the Fever on Tuesday night.

In the first meeting this season, the Sky relied on its defense to hold off the Fever. Although missing key players Sylvia Fowles and Epiphanny Prince, Chicago rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Indiana 74-71 in the Sky’s 2014 season opener. Elena Delle Donne scored 23 points to lead the Sky while Jessica Breland added 13 points.

Chicago dropped the second game of the series at Allstate Arena 83-75 on June 20. Epiphanny Prince scored 18 points and Jessica Breland added 16 but the Sky were unable to overcome a fourth quarter scoring drought.

The Sky closely battled Indiana on Thursday night but a late fourth quarter scoring surge allowed the Fever to pull away with an 82-64 victory. The Sky shaved a 17-point Fever lead to just five points in the third quarter but could not overcome a 29-point outburst from Indiana in the final quarter. Allie Quigley scored 17 points to pace the Sky for the second consecutive game. Fowles delivered her fifth consecutive double-double performance in the month of July with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Fowles and the Sky will look to start the second half of the season with a total-team effort against the Fever on Tuesday night.

Following Tuesday’s game the Sky starts a three-game road trip heading to Atlanta to take on the Dream on Friday, July 25. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT and the game will broadcast live on The U Too and WNBA Live Access. The Sky will also face Tulsa and San Antonio before returning home to Allstate Arena on Thursday, July 31 in a game that will be themed #ThrowBackThursday.
