Chicago Sky Signs Marshall High School Graduate Britney Jones

The Chicago Sky has signed Chicago native Britney Jones to a training camp contract, it was announced Thursday by Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released. Jones, a 5-foot-8-inch guard, is known for her strong offensive skills. She appeared in 27 games during to 2013 season with Icelandís Fjolnir where she averaged 31.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

Jones attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a Conference USA Sixth Player of the Year award recipient in 2007 and received C-USA All-Conference second team honors in 2009. She ranks second on UABís all-time career steals list (240) and ninth in career points (1601).

Jones joined Greeceís FEA Neas Halkidonas for the 2011 season. During her seven game appearances, Jones totaled 26 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The following season, Jones played for Icelandís Fjoinir where she averaged 29 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game.

While at John Marshall Metropolitan High School, the Chicago Sun-Times named Jones the 2005 Athlete and Player of the Year. She led the team to a CPS City Championship and a third place finish at the state tournament in 2002.
