Sky Served Fans

The Chicago Sky served dozens of their excited fans, decked out in yellow and sky blue, at our second “Get Served by the Sky” event. The event, held at Cheeseburger in Paradise in Downers Grove, brought together Sky fans with the entire Sky roster and coaching staff for a night of fun and fundraising.

The delicious menu included onion rings and sweet chips, the All-American Burger, Calypso Salad, El Cubano, the Caribbean Chicken Sandwich and Hawaiian Delight for dessert. The meal included an appetizer, entree and desert and a personal delivery from one of the Sky players.

Carolyn Swords, who is recovering from a knee injury, manned the raffle prize table while her teammates took orders and delivered food to hungry fans. Fans entered to win great prizes including t-shirts, jerseys, basketballs and bobble heads signed by coaches and players.

“It was awesome to see all of our fans come support the WNBA Sky Cares at Cheeseburger in Paradise,” explained Swords. “It really helps us connect with the community, and it’s always great to see our loyal fans who help us out and show their support for us. We really appreciate it.”

Sky players and coaches also raised money by signing autographs and taking photos for a $1 donation. Friendly competition erupted in the final minutes of the night as each player tried to raise more money than the next. Epiphanny Prince, Swin Cash and Elena Delle Donne held the top spots for their efforts throughout the night.

The proceeds from “Get Served by the Sky” will be donated to the Sky Cares Foundation. The foundation aims to enrich the lives of the Chicago-land area through community service activities while providing positive role models to local youth. To learn more about Sky Cares, click here.
