Sky at the Lifestyle Expo

Sachs Recreation Center, the official practice facility of the Chicago Sky, hosted the health focused “Lifestyle Expo” in conjunction with the Deerfield Park District’s Patty Turner Center and the DBR Chamber of Commerce. A variety of helpful stations around the rec center featured tips from health and fitness professionals on staying healthy and strong this winter season.

Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman, along with the Chicago Sky mascot, Sky Guy and several Sky staff members engaged visitors in the Pop Shot mini-basketball game throughout the event. Both old and young showed off their basketball skills with the help of Coach Chatman. Sky Guy played some hoops with the youngsters in the interactive game area.

Along with testing out their shooting form, individuals who stopped by the Sky table had an opportunity to spin the contest wheel for the chance to win a t-shirt, hat or a bobble head. One lucky winner won a Coach Chatman bobble head, which Coach Chatman signed on the spot.

The event offered several other health-focused stations. Visitors took advantage of the free fitness demonstration, the nutrition table, a demonstration on healthy cooking, samples of healthy snacks and the flu shot and pneumonia vaccine station. Also available to event-goers were free hearing, blood pressure and body fat screenings.
