Sky Holds on in Atlanta

In Saturday nightís game between the Sky (8-9) and the Dream (13-5), the two teams combined to take nearly 80 free throws.

So itís no surprise that the free throws the Sky sunk in the final minutes helped them cling to the smallest of leads on the way to an 88-82 win over the Eastern Conference leading Atlanta Dream in Atlanta.

After Dream forward Angel McCoughtry sunk two of three free throws to pull the Dream to within two with 22 seconds left in the game, Sky center Sylvia Fowles and guard Erin Thorn sunk four consecutive free throws to put the game out of reach.

Fowles led all scorers with 22 points. She also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots. Thorn added 14 points off the bench.

McCoughtry scored a team-high 20 points for the Dream who outrebounded the Sky 46-35.

The Sky made 35-of-42 free throws on the night while the Dream shot 30-of-39 from the line.
