Sky Gospel Night 2013

The Chicago Sky will be hosting Gospel Night on Saturday July 20th at the Allstate Arena when they take on the New York Liberty for the third time this season. The game tips off at 7:00 CT.

Gospel music has strong Chicago roots and the Sky is proud to be showcasing the incredible local talent from the Chicagoland area. Last year, nationally recognized gospel singer/songwriter Marvin Sapp performed for Sky fans and this year, fans can enjoy a free post-game performance by Fellowship Chicago. Throughout the game there will also be gospel music from local choirs who entered the Sky’s inaugural Choir Competition. Competing choirs will perform before, during and after the game.

The local choirs will be competing for a grand prize of $1,000. The final round of competition will take place post-game. Second and third place will also take home an exciting prize purse of $750 and $500 respectively.

Following the announcement of the winning choir, singer/songwriter Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago will take center court to perform. Jenkins is largely known as the senior pastor of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, a rapidly growing multi-location congregation of over 8,000 members in the Chicagoland area. Jenkins received a Grammy Award in 2006 as a songwriter on Christian singer Israel Houghton’s Grammy award winning album.

Fans are encouraged to come out to Allstate to enjoy a night of gospel music and watch the Sky in action. For ticket information call 866.SKY.WNBA or visit http://www.chicagosky.net.
