Sky Fall To Mercury At Home

In a matchup of two perennial offensive teams, The Chicago Sky fell to the Phoenix Mercury 86-78 suffering their first loss at All State Arena this season. The Sky (4-4) shot just 40 percent from the field and committed 17 turnovers in the game as the loss gave them a 1-10 overall record against the Mercury (4-3).

Chicago Sky forward Sylvia Fowles led all scores with 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double double and Epiphanny Prince chipped in 16 points of her own.

SF Diana Taurasi scored 23 points and was just five points away from becoming the all time leading scorer in points against the Sky where she now has 275.

The Sky got off to an early start in the first quarter as they took an early 9-2 lead with 7:23 in the first quarter. But the Phoenix offense eventually came to life as the game saw 7 lead changes in the first half. After a game tying three pointer by Diana Taurasi with 2.6 seconds left in the second quarter, Epiphanny Prince made a long half court as time expired to put the Sky ahead 40-37.

The second half proved to be the most pivotal as the Mercury outscored the Sky 25-13 in the third quarter taking a 62-53 lead. Phoenix then took complete control in the fourth quarter by extending its lead to 15 after a three-point play by Candice Parker with 5:52 where the deficit proved to be too much for Chicago to overcome.

Chicago faces off against the San Antonio Silver Stars on June 28th @ 7 pm at All State Arena where the game will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
