Remember When Archive: December 3-7
“Remember when Sky Head Coach & GM Pokey Chatman threw out the first pitch at the Chicago Bandits game this summer. The Sky players and coaches, minus our two Olympians who were in London, headed to the Ballpark in Rosemont to watch their Head Coach step up to the pitchers mound and open the game with the honorary first pitch. Sky players also spent time signing autographs for fans and they enjoyed being able to relax in the sun and watch the Bandits, for many Sky players it was their first time watching a National Pro Fastpitch game.”

“Remember when we hosted more than ten thousand children from Chicago-land summer camps at our Camp Day game on July 11 when we faced the San Antonio Silver Stars. Allstate Arena was a sea of color as the groups proudly sported their camp t-shirts and the place was rocking as campers of all ages were on their feet loudly cheering and clapping for the Sky.
Campers also helped Sky Guy celebrate his birthday along with his many mascot friends including Benny the Bull, Chicago Fire’s Sparky, DePaul’s Dibs and many more. Click here to view a photo gallery from Camp Day & Sky Guy’s Birthday.”

“Remember when we hosted our Inaugural Gospel Night in July at Allstate Arena. At the conclusion of the game we welcomed the Willow Creek Band who entertained us before renowned gospel recording artist and Pastor Marvin Sapp performed for the thousands of fans in attendance. Sky players, Ruth Riley and Swin Cash, also shared with fans how faith plays an important part in their lives. Check out images from Gospel Night here

“Remember when the Sky players got together after practice one day and re-created a scene from the movie Sister Act 2 to help us promote our inaugural Gospel Night. Swin and Ruth assigned roles and had their team mates practicing the song for days. Even Epiphanny, who had recently undergone surgery on her broken foot didn’t want to miss out on the action and just took her crutches and turned them into a prop.
A special shout out should also go to Le’coe Willingham who so enthusiastically filled the role of Sister Mary Clarence and her son Derek who displayed his awesome dancing skills. Check out the video here. We cant wait to see what they have waiting for us in 2013.”
