Lockport Township Porters Team of the Week

The Lockport Township High School Girls Basketball Team has had a quality season on and off the court. They have shown they have what it takes to succeed on the court this past season by advancing to the playoffs. After winning their first playoff game, the Lockport Porters will now face Neuqua Valley High School and they hope to continue their run through the playoffs in the coming weeks.

For the past 10 years, regardless of results on the court, the Lockport Porters have demonstrated success and dedication in their local community. The girls’ varsity team has sets aside time in December to work at the Harold Colbert Jones Memorial Community Center. The Jones Center holds an annual Penny & Dime Store, where local children are given the opportunity to “shop” for family members and have their gifts wrapped by the volunteers. The girls’ basketball team assists with hosting and running this event. One of the players on the current Lockport Township team has even set up a basketball tournament to be held in April to raise money for scholarships for students to attend college.

As a “Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week” award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to the 2013 Sky Youth Sports Night game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the world’s best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a varsity girls “High School Basketball Team of the Week” award winner every week until March 27th, 2013.
