Liberty Narrowly Hold off Sky
With the loss the Sky drop to 0-2 on the season heading home for their opener against Indiana this Saturday at 7pm at Allstate Arena.
Sylvia Fowles led the Sky with a career-high 23 points including eight fourth-quarter points and grabbed six rebounds.
After shooting 1-of-15 from 3-point range in their season opener the Sky made 50 percent of its 3-point attempts against New York making 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc.
The Sky had five players score in double figures. Dominique Canty scored 12 points including a 3-pointer with two seconds on the clock to bring the Sky to within one.
Erin Thorn and Cathrine Kraayeveld each scored 11 points and Shameka Christon scored 10 in her first trip back to New York since being traded.
Chicago native Cappie Pondexter led New York with 22 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 20.
