Getting to Know You - Amy Jaeschke

Have you been to Chicago Before?
Yes! I have lived in the suburbs of Chicago my whole life. I even attended college at Northwestern University which was about a ten minute drive from the house I grew up in.
If you were not a professional athlete what would your profession be?
A profession in sports marketing however I have secretly always wanted to open a bakery!
When did you start playing basketball? What other sports did you play growing up?
I started playing when I was in 4th grade in a local park district league because that was what all my friends were doing. It turned out I was a decent player and had a lot of passion for the game. I did play a lot of other sports including softball, volleyball, soccer, and swimming.
Do you have a pet?
No. I think I had a fish when I was in elementary school.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
The ability to time travel because I would love to see what it would be like to live in different decades.
Do you play any musical instruments?
Ha, no! My brother was the one who got all the musical talent in our family.
If you could be a celebrity for one day, who would it be and why?
Oprah, because I would like to find out what it would be like to be the most powerful woman in Chicago and one of the most influential woman in the world.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
In first grade PE class I split my favorite corduroy pants while we were stretching. I had to go to the Nurse’s office so she could call my mom and have her bring me a new pair of pants.
What interests do you have outside of basketball?
Since I can remember my family has been sailing our Hobie Cat on Lake Michigan. It’s something I love to do when I have free time in the summer.
What is your favorite food?
I think I could eat a PB & J sandwich everyday for the rest of my life.
Do you have a favorite movie / book?
My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen My favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption
Have you travelled internationally? Where?
This past summer two of my college friends and I went on a backpacking trip through Europe. We traveled to several cities within Italy and Germany. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.
When you retire what would you like your legacy to be?
When I retire I would like people to remember me as a good person who gave back to the community as much as they had provided me in unconditional support and encouragement. I hope that I can be seen as a role model of hard work and good sportsmanship.
