Chicago Sky center Sylvia Fowles and rookie Elena Delle Donne are featured athletes in the Chicago Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) new flu prevention ad campaign. The two join Chicago Bears legendary coach Mike Ditka and Chicago Fire defender Gonzalo Segares as faces of the campaign.

The flu ads that feature the WNBA Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will run throughout the city of Chicago until December 2013. The ads that reads “The Best Shot Is A Flu Shot,” encourages the city of Chicago to get the flu shot.

"I am very happy to be a part of this year's flu shot campaign. I hope that through this campaign I can help encourage people to get a flu shot,” explained Delle Donne. “I am excited to have the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of taking steps to promote individual health as well as the health of others."

The flu shot is the best way to protect against the spread of influenza virus. It will also prevent the spread of the virus between people. The CDPH especially highlights the importance of getting the flu shot if you work with infants, pregnant women and senior citizen who are at a higher risk of having flu complications.

"Everyone should get their flu shot! I am really excited about being part of this campaign. It's important to your health and the health of everyone around you to prevent the spread of the flu. I'm happy to be helping CDPH share this message,” explained Fowles.

The CDPH encourages all to speak with their primary care provider to get the flu shot. Through December 14, the CDPH will host over 60 special flu vaccination clinics across Chicago. An updated version of the CDPH’s Flu Clinic Finder which helps residents find a flu vaccine clinic in their area is found on the City of Chicago website.
