Faulkner Receives Diploma

Southern Mississippi President Dr. Rodney Bennett, Athletic Director Bill McGillis and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Joye-Lee McNelis took part in this special ceremony. Faulkner attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Sports Management.

“It just feels good to not have to wake up and write a paper again (laughing),” said Jamierra Faulkner following the Sky’s 80-69 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Sunday night. “I’m the first one in my family to graduate from a four year college, so it was a proud feeling.”

The Chicago Sky selected the former Golden Eagle as the 34th overall pick in the 2014 WNBA draft. With the quick turnaround between the draft and training camp beginning, Faulkner was unable to attend her graduation.

During her 2013-2014 senior campaign at the University of Southern Mississippi, Faulkner led the NCAA in assists per game at 8.6, a full assist ahead of second place. Currently in her rookie season with the Sky, Faulkner ranks third among rookies in assists per 40 minutes (6.7), sixth in points per game (8.3) and seventh in steals per game (.93) and has appeared in 31 games, including 16 starts.
