Elena Hosts Special Olympics Clinic

WNBA Rookie of the Year Elena Delle Donne and Chicago Sky assistant coach Christie Sides led the clinic, which was held in Loyola Park. This clinic provided a fun and interactive environment for the participants and helped them to develop their basketball skills.

Tyler Lewis of Special Olympics Chicago said they are proud to partner with the Chicago Sky organization and players. “Elena commits a lot of time to the Special Olympics and really sets the standard for professional athletes working with charities.”

For Elena, partnering with Special Olympics Chicago is exciting. When asked what her favorite part of these clinics is she said “interacting with all the different participants is awesome. Hearing their different stories is what makes this even more fun.”

Coach Sides and Elena ran the teams through multiple defensive and offensive drills and finished the event with an energetic Q&A.

For these participants clinics such as this one are fun ways to get physical activity and meet a professional athlete. Jenny Munch, a 20-year participant with Special Olympics Chicago said, “I learned a lot about shooting and defense today. And defense is my favorite thing to do.”
