Dave Cowens Resigns

Sky to Begin Search for Successor Immediately

CHICAGO — The Chicago Sky today announced that General Manager and Head Coach Dave Cowens resigned from the team to take a position as assistant coach of the Detroit Pistons. Cowens was hired by the Sky on May 25, 2005.

“We thank Dave for all of his efforts in leading the Sky through our inaugural season. He was a wonderful partner in getting the team launched. We will miss him and wish him all the best as he returns to the NBA,” said Sky President Margaret Stender. “Our search now begins for a successor as we continue our promise to deliver Chicago a team who will compete with the heart and soul of its people.”

The Chicago Sky is the 14th team in the WNBA and recently completed its inaugural season. The 2007 WNBA season begins in May and runs through August. The Sky will play their home games at UIC Pavilion.
