Chicago Sky Comes Up Short

After trailing by as many as 18 points, the Chicago Sky managed to whittle the Indiana Fever lead down to just two points with three minutes left in the game.

Then, Fever guard Briann January sunk a three and later added a free throw to ice a 78-74 win for the defending Eastern Conference champion Indiana Fever.

Sylvia Fowles led four Sky (12-13) players who scored in double figures with 16 points and eight rebounds. In her third game with the Sky and her first shot against her old team, Shay Murphy scored 12 points off the bench on 4-of-8 shooting from the field.

Tamika Catchings led the Fever (16-7) with 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Dominique Canty added 10 points for the Sky, eight of which coming in the first half. And Tamera Young made 4-of-9 shots for 11 points.

Starting guard Jia Perkins was removed from the game in the first quarter after taking a shot above her right eye. She returned to the game in the second half after getting stitches to close the cut.

The Sky continues its road trip Friday when they take on the Seattle Storm.
