Chatman Selected as Court Coach

Chicago Sky Head Coach Pokey Chatman has been selected as a court coach for the 2013 USA Women’s National team mini-camp, USA Basketball. Chatman will join three other experienced coaches from around the country at mini-camp.

Chatman lead the Sky to a 24-10 record in 2013, becoming the most winningest coach in Sky history. Under her guidance, the Sky captured the Eastern Conference regular season title and as well as earning their first playoff berth in Sky history.

"I have fond memories of USA basketball both as a player and coach and look forward to another great opportunity to work with the best in the business,” expressed Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman.

Chatman was the assistant coach of the USA Basketball team at the 2005 USA World University Games, leading them to win the gold medal with a 7-0 record. She served as the head coach of the Slovakia National Team in 2009 and 2011. During her time at Spartak Moscow Region Vidnoje in Russia from 2007 through 2013 as assistant then head coach, Chatman led the team to a 54-17 EuroLeague record and in 2010 captured the EuroLeague title.

Three coaches from around the country will join Chatman as court coach for the mini-camp. The list of coaches includes Doug Bruno of DePaul University, Jennifer Rizzotti of the University of Hartford and Dawn Staley of the University of South Carolina. Minnesota Lynx Head Coach Cheryl Reeve was also selected, but after advancing to the WNBA Finals, is unable to attend camp. Geno Auriemma from the University of Connecticut will lead the camp as head coach.

Chatman will join Sylvia Fowles, Elena Delle Donne and Courtney Vandersloot at the camp along with other top WNBA players including Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, Tina Charles and Seimone Augustus to name a few.
