BJHS Welcomes the Sky

Last week, Chicago Sky forwards Brooke Wyckoff and Amanda Lassiter participated in a discussion with nearly 100 Benito Juarez High School students. Penguin Classics and the Sky donated 500 books to BJHS, which is located in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, as part of the WNBA Cares Read to Achieve literacy initiative.

Like the students, Brooke and Amanda read the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice and then participated in a group discussion that concluded with a gift exchange. Brooke and Amanda were happy to receive BJHS hooded sweatshirts from Juarez girls’ basket ball team co-captains Ivis Rodriguez and Jenny Reyes, and Principal Natividad Loredo. In return, Brooke and Amanda presented Principal Loredo with a one-of-a-kind Read to Achieve afghan and gave all members of the girls’ basketball team a Sky t-shirt.
