Sky Select Armintie Price

The Sky selected 59 guard Armintie Price from the University of Mississippi, with the third overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft.

Price is just the fifth player in NCAA history to record over 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 assists and 300 steals, joining Cheryl Miller, Chamique Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings and Sophia Young. As a senior, ESPN.com selected her to the All-American Team and she was also awarded SEC Player of the Year honors.

Price will add a scoring threat to the Sky. She averaged over 16 points per game in her four year college career, improving her scoring each season. Price was selected as a Wooden Award Mid-season Candidate in 2007 as well as a Pre-Season All-American by the Basketball Times. In 2006, she was named to the All-SEC team, an honor that she received 3 times in her career. As a freshman, Price was named SEC Freshman of the Year as well National Rookie of the Year by GBALLMag.com while posting 14 double-doubles.

She helped lead Ole Miss to their first Elite Eight appearance since 1992 by defeating Oklahoma, Maryland, and TCU in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

While waiting for the Draft to begin, Price told ESPN that "It's like knowing you passed the test, but you're waiting for the grade." After her selection by the Sky, she said, "I got an A plus and a smiley face!"
