Sky Re-Signs Leah Rush, Waives Queenan

The Sky has re-signed forward Leah Rush to a seven day free agent contract, Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key announced August 14. Per team policy, terms of the contract have not been released. The Sky also waived forward, Brooke Queenan.

Rush, a 6’1” forward, was signed by the Sky on July 8 to a seven day free agent contract appearing in two regular season games for the Sky before being waived on July 14. Rush averaged 1.5 points per game playing only 12 combined minutes.

Rush was selected by the Phoenix Mercury in the third round (28th overall) of the 2007 WNBA Draft, and was released during the team’s 2007 training camp. During the 2008 training camp Rush played in one pre-season game for the Seattle Storm scoring 2 points and grabbing one rebound against the Sky on April 30 at the UIC Pavilion. A 2007 graduate of Oklahoma University, Rush finished her senior year averaging 9.8 points and 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assist per game. She received honorable mention All-Big 12, named to the All-Big 12 Championship team, and the All-Big 12 Tournament team.

Queenan, a 6’2” forward from Boston College was signed by the Sky on April 18. Queenan appeared in eight games for the Sky averaging 0.3 points and 0.2 assists per game. Queenan missed three games due to an inflammatory process in the lower right quadrant of her abdomen.

She was named to the All-ACC Second Team her senior year and led the Eagles with 14.8 points and 8 rebounds per game. She was selected by the Connecticut Sun in the 2006 WNBA Draft, making appearing in four pre-season games. In 2007 Queenan was invited to the Seattle Storm’s training camp and was waived on May 1. During the 2007-08 off-season, Queenan played overseas for Team Aris Haroglou in Greece.
