Send Sky Players to the Euroleague All-Star Game

Sky forward Candice Dupree, center Sylvia Fowles, and guard Dominique Canty have been nominated to participate in the EuroLeague Women's All-Star Game to take place on March 8, in Paris France, on International Women’s Day.

The EuroLeague Women's All-Star Game will feature a match-up between athletes from Europe versus those from The Rest of the World. Fans are invited to select the starting five for each team online through February 9, with the starting five announced by FIBA Europe later that day. Make your vote count. Fans can go online to www.fibaeurope.com, and then click on All-Star Game tab to vote.

The following three Sky players have been nominated to participate in the All-Star game representing The Rest of the World.

  • Center, Sylvia Fowles, playing for Spartak in Russia, averaging 15.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. Sylvia recently became the first woman to dunk in a EuroLeague game.

  • Guard, Dominique Canty, playing for Wisla Can-Pack in Poland, averaging 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

  • Forward, Candice Dupree, playing for Wisla Can-Pack in Poland, averaging 12.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Dupree led Wisla Can-Pack last year to a Polish Championship, and was named Finals MVP.

    The EuroLeague is the highest professional basketball league in Europe for women’s clubs. Unlike EuroLeague for men, the competition is entirely organized by FIBA Europe. As the governing body, FIBA Europe is responsible for controlling and developing the sport of basketball in Europe including: promoting, supervising and directing international competition at the club and national team levels, and governing and appointing European international referees. FIBA Europe is an international federation whose membership consists of the national basketball federation of Europe of which there are currently 51 members.
