Pre-Season Tips Off!

Pre-Season Tips Off!

The Sky's 2008 pre-season tips off this evening at 7pm as the Seattle Storm come to town (without 2007 WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson, who is still playing overseas). Be there in person to see top draft pick Sylvia Fowles take the court for the first time wearing her #34 Sky jersey.

Returning Sky veterans Kayte Christensen, Claire Coggins, Chasity Melvin, 2007 WNBA Rookie of the Year Armintie Price, Stephanie Raymond, and Brooke Wyckoff are in training camp and will also play. Second and third round draft picks Quianna Chaney and Angela Tisdale, along with training camp invitees Amanda Jackson, Carrie Moore, Brooke Queenan and Nina Stone will see action in the game as they try to make the team. The Sky's two-time All-Star Candice Dupree, along with Dominique Canty, Cathy Joens, Jia Perkins and Bernadette Ngoyisa have not yet arrived in training camp, as they finish playing overseas.

Milwaukee Sky

This Saturday, the team heads to Milwaukee where they will play host to the Indiana Fever at the Al McGuire Center on the campus of Marquette University at 5pm.

Singing the Stretch

"A one…a two…a three! Take me out to the ballgame…" That's right, Sky fans! Chas Melvin, Sylvia Fowles and Quianna Chaney will sing the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley Field on May 10, as the Cubs take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. The rest of the Sky players and staff will be at the game to cheer them on. Come on out to the game or tune in to your local FOX affiliate at 2:45 pm!

Syl's Olympic Bid

Sylvia Fowles returned to Chicago on Sunday, April 27 from Beijing, where she started five games in an Olympic warm-up tournament for the USA Basketball Women's National Team. She was the leading scorer in 4 of the 5 games, and averaged a team-leading 17.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. The team won silver in the tournament, playing with only three WNBA veterans.

Looptopia

Veteran center Kayte Christensen and Nina Stone will participate in "Looptopia," the nation's first dusk-till-dawn artistic celebration, on Friday, May 2. Christensen will be reading to children at Macy's on State Street at 6:30 p.m., on the 5th floor in the Ralph Lauren children's department. Stone will read to children at Barnes and Noble located at Jackson and State in downtown Chicago at 5:30 p.m.
