Nique’s Trip Overseas
Having already spent a few summers overseas you begin to get a system down for packing. I would like to tell you all that I think I’ve got it down to a science. First of all, I’ve got to be comfortable when I’m packing. It’s a big task, lifting, sorting, folding, it takes a lot of effort to pack for six months. Once I get started my main concern is my hair suitcase. That’s right, a whole bag dedicated to my hair supplies. I have to pack enough hair products to last me the whole season so I go shopping and buy enough to where I feel comfortable I won’t run out. You know I have to take care of the hair.
My next bag is for my gym shoes and sports clothes. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am most comfortable in really, REALLY comfortable clothes (like warm ups), and I intend on taking plenty with me.
I typically pack at least ten pairs of shoes!!! I know it sounds like a lot, but I’ve got to be honest, I never wear them all, won’t even come close, but as every woman would tell you, it’s always good to have options!
So you can usually find me in warm ups and sneakers overseas, unless I am going out which doesn’t happen often. But just in case, I have my last bag which I’ve nicknamed the “chill bag.” This is the one bag that I pack all of my jeans and t-shirts in. Second to my warm ups you can find me in jeans and a t-shirt, and in my opinion you really can’t have too many t-shirts.
I enjoy my time traveling overseas, but I hate having too many bags to haul around with me, which is why I’ve managed to pack the majority of my things in two or three suitcases. That has got to be a record!!
I am going to miss being in the states but I am looking forward to playing with my new team overseas and getting to know my teammates. I hope to contribute as much as I can to make sure our team is as successful as possible. I’m going to miss my friends, especially my family back in the states. I know that I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity to travel abroad and play basketball with elite athletes of other countries. I’ve played in Poland before and I am looking forward to heading back, be sure to follow my team by clicking here.
