High School Team of the Week December 4, 2007- Tinley Park High School

The Chicago Sky is pleased to announce its first “High School Team of the Week” winner. With over a dozen nominations from faculty, parents, coaches and fans, it’s clear that Tinley Park is proud of its Titans. The Tinley Park High School Titans of the South Suburban Blue Conference are our first winners based on the team’s service to their community, their commitment to keeping their grades up and their dedication to working together as a team.

The players all maintain at least a B average. Over the summer, the players read a motivational book together and wrote reports on how they could use the ideas to better themselves and their team. They ran a “Hoops for Hunger” summer camp, with campers bringing canned goods every day to be donated to a local food pantry. They have continued the “Hoops for Hunger” program into their season, offering a free ticket and a t-shirt to fans who bring canned goods to their games. In January, they will spend a Saturday together refereeing games for handicapped children.

The Titans are 2-3 on the season so far, with a game tonight at Seton Hall at 5:30. You can support the Titans in action on:

Tuesday, December 4 @ Seton Hall, 5:30pm
Friday, December 7 @ Oak Lawn, 5:30pm
Tuesday, December 11 vs. Westmont, 7:00pm
Monday, December 17 vs. Hillcrest, 7:00pm

The Sky wishes the Tinley Park Titans the best of luck this season and congratulates them for their dedication to both the game of basketball and the people in their community!
