High School Team of the Week February 19, 2008- Thornton Fractional North High School

The Chicago Sky has named the Thornton Fractional North High School Lady Meteors its tenth and final 2008 “High School Team of the Week.” Through hard work and humility, these Lady Meteors are making school history as they continue chasing the 3A state title.

On January 31, T.F. North defeated Thornridge High School to win the SICA East conference championship, the team’s first conference title since 1985. The Lady Meteors went on to win their first Regional Championship since 1986 by defeating Illiana Christian on February 14. By defeating Oak Forest High School on Tuesday, February 19, the team’s record improved to 26-4, which sets the record for most wins by any basketball team (boys or girls) at T.F. North. These players attribute their achievements to hard work, teamwork and leading by example. Off the court, the girls stay active in the community. They participated in a food drive over Thanksgiving, with the coaches and players donating over 300 items to help needy families in the community.

The Sky wishes the Thornton Fractional North High School Lady Meteors the best of luck as they continue in the state playoffs, and we thank them for their commitment to the game of basketball.

You can catch the Lady Meteors in action on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 7:30pm when they take on Washington High School at Hillcrest High School for the sectional championship.
