High School Team of the Week February 12, 2008- Mother McAuley

Congratulations to the Mighty Macs from Mother McAuley High School, named the Chicago Sky’s ninth “High School Team of the Week.” With a team slogan that reads, “It’s amazing how much gets accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit,” it is no wonder that these Mighty Macs are successful on and off the court.

While almost half of their games were against teams in the top 25, the Mighty Macs still managed an impressive 20-9 record. They finished in the final four in the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference (GCAC) tournament, their first appearance since 2004. Earlier this season, the Mighty Macs broke into the top 25 rankings for the first time in several years, making it as high as 15. Not only has this team been succeeding on the court, but in the classroom, with all thirteen players on the varsity roster making the Academic All-Conference Team.

The Sky wishes the Mother McAuley Mighty Macs the best of luck as they enter the regional semifinals and thanks them for their commitment to the game of basketball and their school work.

If you want to cheer on the Mighty Macs, you can catch them in action on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 7:30pm as they take on Oak Lawn Community High School in the regional championship at home.
