Bank of America and the Chicago Sky Team Up to Respond to Rise in Demand for Food by Supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository

On Wednesday, June 24, Bank of America associates and Chicago Sky athletes, Candice Dupree, Shyra Ely, KB Sharp, Dominique Canty, Armintie Price and Sylvia Fowles, along with Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key will hand out food donations to hungry families in conjunction with the Food Depository’s Mobile Pantry.

The panty brings food to communities that have a high concentration of poverty but relatively low levels of Food Depository food assistance. The program aims to serve working people by delivering food on nights and weekends -- when food assistance typically is not available.

Food will be handed out at the Will Feed Community Organization (6401 S. Sangamon St.) from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In these times of a tightened economy and jobless rates increasing, the need is even greater to help feed families in the local communities in the Chicago area. Bank of America and the Chicago Sky are proud to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository at a time when nonprofits are struggling to provide significantly increased services to thousands of families who are having enormous difficulty making ends meet.

This event will kick-off a broader canned food drive that encourages the public to bring items to the Chicago Sky vs. Sacramento Monarchs game on June 30 @ 7:00pm. Each fan that brings five canned goods to donate at the Sky game on June 30 will receive a free Sky voucher to any 2009 regular season game.
