Armintie Update From Spain
Everyone is so nice and respectful. We fly everywhere because we are on an island, but the flights are no more than 50 minutes. We also have a pregame meal together, breakfast, and dinner when we travel. It is almost like college, which is great for team bonding. We eat this salad which includes tuna, corn, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and cucumbers, then we have white rice with egg, then steak or chicken with fries, then ice cream....they eat a lot. You see why it is such a perfect place for me!
The gym we play in is about 35 minutes from where we live and itís a gym where they have bicyclists practice, I know may sound a bit unusual, but they have two Olympic bicyclists, which is why they built this state of the art arena. Sometimes they ride while we practice, itís definitely not something that would happen back home.
We play our games on Saturdays, every other weekend at home and we practice every day, except on Sundays, and on occasion Wednesday, but twice on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The great thing is I have a two bedroom apartment, unfortunately I have to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to it, but itís all keepiní me in shape, and yes, I do cook for myself. Last night I had fried pork chops, Italian bread and pasta. It was so soooo good. Murriel Page of the LA Sparks and my Cuban teammate hit up this really good pizza place about twice a week so I tag along when I can. Even a super bonus is I have cable, so I get to watch the NFL, NBA and other good stuff going on. Itís a 7 hour time difference from here to back home, so it took me awhile to adjust on the timing when calling home.
My team is really good, even though last year they were in the second division. Out of 14 teams we are now number 3!!! Thatís a big deal. Weíve only lost 1 game and that was to the best team, and guess what, I was MVP of the first week. We run all the time in the game and I like it. We want to be in the top four when Christmas break comes around. One thing is for sure, they play hard here with absolutely no fear. I have played against my Sky teammates Brooke Wyckoff and Leah Rush and it was such an emotional moment for me....LOL...almost. Brooke said Iíve gotten so dark, so I guess Iíve gotten a pretty good tan since Iíve arrived! This weekend we play Latoya Thomasí team, they are good but every weekend is a must win so itís tough.
Before I sign off I wanted to send my condolences to the Hudson family back home in Chicago. Like I said we have the internet and cable over here so Iíve been following the story. My heart and prayers go out to the family. The situation is such an unnecessary tragedy that has hurt a family to the core. From the bottom of my heart and many of my Sky teammates, my deepest condolences.
Well that is all I got for now friends. Love u guys, keep prayiní for all the Sky players cause we need it all the way from our loved ones. GO SKY!!!
