Draft Watch: Jordan Hooper and Inga Orekhova

This week’s notable players that we will focus on are Jordan Hooper and Inga Orekhova.




Jordan Hooper (Nebraska)

Forward Jordan Hooper started and played in all 33 of Nebraska’s regular season games to help her team to a 26-7 record. Hooper averaged 20.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game for the Cornhuskers. She also led her team in 3-point field goals made with 2.4 per game on the year.

During Saturday’s 74-55 win against Fresno State, Hooper led her team with 23 points and 11 rebounds, including two 3-pointers. In addition to her outstanding performance on the court, Hooper was named Big Ten Player of the year, becoming the first Nebraska women’s basketball player to claim the conference’s top postseason honor. It is no surprise that Hooper was a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selection.




Inga Orekhova (South Florida)

South Florida guard Inga Orekhova helped her team to a 21-12 record this season. Orekhova averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in 31 games (29 starts) for the Bulls in 2013. Orekhova overcame a knee injury early in the season to finish with a career-best field goal percentage (.429). She was named to the All-American Athletic Conference Second team.

On Sunday, South Florida hosted Stetson in second round of the WNIT. The Bulls won in convincing fashion by a score of 75-56. Orekhova delivered 16 points and 6 rebounds in the first half to set the pace early. She finished the game with 22 points and 6 rebounds.

Last night, South Florida defeated George Washington 74-59 to advance to the WNIT Quarterfinals. Orekhova scored 14 points, all in the second half, and tied career highs with nine rebounds and seven assists. Orekhova and the Bulls take on Mississippi State on at 5 pm CT on Sunday, March 30.
