Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Oh…sorry Sky fans, I can’t help myself sometimes, I was just singing in my head about the weather outside (it’s nuts out there!). It doesn’t show signs of stopping, and I brought some corn for popping (um, popcorn). The lights are turned way down low, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. See…there I go again! I went to a party for the Chicago Polar Plunge at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub earlier this evening, and wasn’t about to let anything stop me from making it, not even a little blizzard! I ran into Shaun Gayle (a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears), Danni Boatwright (the winner of Survivor Guatemala), two wonderful Special Olympics athletes, and a polar bear at the event! Even he had to come out of the cold to warm up! The Chicago Polar Plunge is an annual event held at North Avenue Beach that involves people jumping into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan to help raise money for Special Olympics Chicago. The “plunge” is a great way for people to do something crazy and raise money for a great organization. That’s why Sky Head Coach Bo Overton and I will be taking “the plunge.” I’ve been raising money for Special Olympics Chicago, and have surpassed my original goal of $1000. Special Olympics Chicago’s goal is to raise more than $200,000, and I’d love it if you would help them by donating at Sky Guy’s Fundraising Page. The Plunge will be on the morning of March 4th at North Avenue Beach. I hope to see all of you there wearing your Sky colors! |
