Today I went to Benito Juarez High School to meet up with Sky players, Brooke Wyckoff and Amanda Lassiter and NBC5 News reporter, Anita Padilla, as part of the WNBA Cares: Read to Achieve literacy program. We were joined by over 100 BJHS students as well as several school faculty. Among the group of students in attendance was the BJHS girls’ basketball team. Brooke, Amanda and all the students in attendance discussed the book that they read for the program, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. While they discussed the book I decided to check out the library. I read some magazines and looked up a plethora (that means a lot) of words in the dictionary. I was expecting to find my name and picture in there but neither were to be found in that giant book of words (it must be an old edition).
