Today was really a blast. Where do I start? This morning I met up with Sky forward Amanda Lassiter and Sky president and CEO Margaret Stender at the Choir Charter Academy School for Chicago Public Schools’ “Principal for the Day.” Amanda and Margaret became Principal Lassiter and Principal Stender, and I was Vice Principal Sky Guy. The wonderful kids at the Choir Academy were amazing. They treated us to incredible singing, showed us their book smarts in academic challenges and their basketball skills in a shoot-around challenge.
Principal Stender gave the students a motivating speech about dreaming big, while Principal Lassiter answered questions and showed off her incredible shooting skills. After Principal Lassiter made her shots one of the students asked that I try a shot. I was on the spot and didn’t want to disappoint these Sky fans so I had no choice but try my lucky bounce shot. I lined up for my shot, took a deep breath, and bounced the ball. Sure enough the ball went through the hoop on the first try. Everyone went nuts, including me (I’ve never made it on my first try!) The students and faculty of the Choir Charter Academy School were fantastic Sky fans and I’m definitely a fan of them.
Later in the evening, I joined the wonderful people of TeamWorks Media for a media party. I greeted the party guests at the front door for awhile. I even hid in the coats and popped out to surprise a new comer and wouldn’t you know it, it was Sky forward Brooke Wyckoff. I escorted Brooke into the party and what a party. The food and desserts there were unbelievable (especially the mini-sandwiches.) I mingled with the party-goers, took tons of pictures and gave tons of hugs to I don’t know how many beautiful ladies (I’m sure I made a lot of boyfriends jealous.) This was one happening party. You know what else was happening, the elevator. I must have gone up and down like 30 times welcoming new guests and bidding farewell to the guests who had to leave (oh well, their loss.) I started to feel lightheaded from all my elevator riding. All my blood had run down to my feet. There was only one thing I could do to get my blood back up to my head, a handstand in the middle of the party. That fixed the problem and amazed a couple of my fans too. Thanks TeamWorks, I had a great time. You guys need to have these parties more than once a year.” |
