Born in Dallas, Texas, Ashley attended South Grand Prairie High School. Her senior year she was considered one of the top players in all of Texas and was one of the most highly recruited players in the country. In 2000 she played for United States Women's Junior World Championship Qualifying Team leading her team in shot blocking, being the 5th leading scorer and 3rd leading rebounder.
Her high school success carried over at the University of Tennessee. Making a significant impact her freshman year she was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and averaged 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Between her freshman and sophomore seasons, Ashley suffered an ACL injury but she was able to bounce back after surgery. Her sophomore year she averaged 4.7 points per game, and 2.6 rebounds per game. Ashley shined her junior year finishing the season in fifth place on the Lady Vol all-time blocked shot list. Overall Ashley averaged 5.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, but had a five-game stretch in January beginning with the contest at Connecticut where she averaged 12.2 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. Her senior year Ashley displayed leadership skills and was really an anchor in the post. She was ranked 3rd in the SEC in blocks per game (2) and averaged 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds per game.
Ashley has a degree in public relations, loves to read in her spare time and is a big fan of Oprah’s Book Club.
