The 2009 Krav Maga Worldwide Star Squad!

Chad On Tryouts

Hey there Stars fans! Wow, so here I am back for my second season as a member of your Star Squad. This year’s auditions were crazy. To start off our nerve racking audition, we had about 50 people tryout this year! Last year we only had twenty something people come and tryout. That’s huge, especially when you consider that only 18 people were going to make the team this season…gulp.

After the judges introduced themselves we jumped straight into the new dance. It was different, for me at least, seeing 50 dancers all trying to learn the same dance since this is only my second year as a dancer. I relied heavily on my martial arts background to get me through this audition. But I did enjoy seeing everyone help each other out while we were all competing head to head for the 18 spots.

The dance was quick paced and had clean sharp moves mixed with fast fluid movements. I’m not going to lie, I struggled some with it. It took us about 45 minutes to an hour to learn our routine and then it was practice time. We had some time to go over the dance before we performed it in front of the judges and the rest of the potential Star Squad members.

For almost two hours, or at least it seemed that way, the judges deliberated. Even though this is my second season I was still very nervous. There were tons of great talent that showed up to the auditions, guys and girls.

The judges randomly started calling out numbers and more and more spots were filling up. I was trying to keep track of how many slots were left and then I heard it, number 27. I tried not to show it in front of those who didn’t make the team, but I was extremely happy. I was dreading not being able to come back and hangout with the greatest fans in the WNBA at every Stars home game.

Its been real and its been fun, so I guess its been real fun but its time for me to go. Hope to see you all at the AT&T Center this summer. Come out and support the Silver Stars as they make another try at the Championship this year. LET’S GO STARS!

Brittany Blogs About Tryouts

Hey Silver Stars fans! Star Squad tryouts were finally here and I was incredibly nervous. This was my first time trying out and I had no clue what to expect.

When I walked into the Krav Maga Worldwide Training Center, I couldn’t help but notice what an amazing facility it was. After checking in, I immediately noticed how strong the competition was going to be. There were so many talented dancers all hoping to be one of the eighteen members chosen to complete this years Star Squad.

After learning and performing the tryout dance and completing our interviews, I think everyone loosened up their nerves and were more relaxed. While waiting for the final results, we all took it upon ourselves to meet everyone and have some fun dancing around. We also enjoyed checking out the rest of the Krav Maga facility. Finally, the judges made their decision and the lucky 18 were called out!

This whole experience was definitely educational, nerve racking, and so much fun! Even though my muscles are sore and aching today, I couldn’t be happier and feel so lucky to be a part of this incredible organization. LET’S GO STARS!!!
