SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Silver Stars have waived guard
Kendra Wecker, head coach and general manager
Dan Hughes announced today.
“We appreciate all that Kendra has meant to the Silver Stars and our community,” said Hughes. “We wish her the best.”
Wecker, San Antonio’s fourth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft, averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 49 career games with San Antonio. She scored four points and dished two assists during her first career game before tearing her ACL just 11 minutes into the contest. After missing the remainder of the 2005 season, Wecker returned to the court during the 2006 NBA All-Star game, teaming with Tony Parker and Steve Kerr to take home the Haier Shooting Stars trophy. In 2006, she appeared in 34 games, starting 11 and averaging 5.6 points per game.
The Silver Stars open the 2008 season on the road at Sacramento May 17 before hosting the defending WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury on May 20. Affordable full and partial season ticket plans are on sale now. Visit www.sasilverstars.com or call (210) 444.5090 for more information.
