SILVER STARS AND CHRISTUS SANTA ROSA PARTNER TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT BREAST HEALTH IN SAN ANTONIO

SAN ANTONIO, June 20, 2008 – The San Antonio Silver Stars and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa announced a partnership today that will bring the two together as a solid force behind breast health awareness and cancer prevention in San Antonio.
The campaign tipped-off today with a press conference attended by WNBA President Donna Orender, a champion behind the league-wide breast health platform, and Silver Stars Head Coach Dan Hughes. Orender and Hughes, together with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa CEO/President Don Beeler, FACHE, announced that the Silver Stars will dedicate the September 5 home game to Breast Health Awareness – by educating fans and raising funds for local charitable organizations.
The game will feature several unique promotions focused on breast health, highlighted by the team wearing special edition pink and white Silver Stars jerseys that feature the CHRISTUS logo. The pink and white jerseys, along with Silver Stars memorabilia and merchandise, will be auctioned off post-game with the proceeds benefitting local organizations committed to breast health awareness and treatment. Furthermore, proceeds from each group ticket purchased to the game will be benefit local breast health charities. The partnership will also be supported via in-arena and broadcast messaging at all Silver Stars home games.
Another unique aspect to the partnership is the access Silver Stars fans will have to the CHRISTUS Mobile Mammography RV, the only one of its kind in San Antonio. At select Silver Stars games and events throughout the summer, fans will be able to visit the RV and receive free mammograms and breast health information. |
