Sophia Young Reaches 3,000-Point Plateau
Young is the 37th player in league history to reach the 3,000 point plateau and the first in San Antonio history. She is the third player from the 2006 draft class to reach 3,000 points, following New York’s Cappie Pondexter and Minnesota’s Seimone Augustus.
A five-time WNBA All-Star, Young holds three additional San Antonio career records including minutes played (6,184), field goals made (1,138), free throws made (682) and steals (307). She also ranks second in games played (190), games started (191) and total rebounds (1,192). The Caribbean native is the fastest player in franchise history to score 2,000 points, doing so in only 125 career games. She entered the season ranked 13th all-time on the WNBA scoring list with a 15.9 career points per game average.
Young currently ranks second on the Silver Stars with 14.0 points per game while leading the team with 6.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. She is averaging 15.7 points per game for her six season career. Young was originally selected by the Silver Stars with the fourth overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft out of Baylor University.
