SAN ANTONIO, TX – The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed former Rice standout Valeriya Berezhynska to a seven-day contract, Head Coach and General Manager Dan Hughes announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Berezhynska averaged 10 points and 6.4 rebounds per game throughout her collegiate career. As a senior, she led the Owls with 17.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. One of only three Conference-USA players to average a double-double in league games, she earned second team all-league honors as a senior. The Detroit Shock drafted Berezhynska 42nd overall in the 2008 WNBA Draft, but waived her on May 5. She then signed with Sacramento for four days. She will report to San Antonio on Tuesday.
