“I thought we had great intensity in the first half.”

“LA is a second half team. They’ve been in similar situations with Seattle and lots of other teams and we knew they’d come out strong in the second half.”

“I thought it was crucial to extend our lead at the beginning of the second half.”

“L.A. came out with a bounce in their step.”

“We have got to put two halves together.”

“I think we’ve seen glimpses of what we can do.”

“We allowed them to do what they do best and that’s push the ball.”

Marie Ferdinand:

“We didn’t start the second half with the same intensity.”

“At halftime we talked about how L.A. is a second half team.”

“They were the aggressors (in the second half) and they got the calls.”

“We relaxed a bit and they got rolling.”

“We need to be tougher.”

Adrienne Goodson:

On looking ahead - “Going on the road is a way of bringing us together. We need to get back to playing team ball.”

On the physicality – “The game was well refereed. If they felt like they needed to call the technical, then that’s what was needed. The game is a physical game; basketball is a contact sport. We can’t blame a loss on the refs.”

“Defensively we didn’t really do anything special. We just needed to have more intensity. We had good help on the ball and that made it tough for them. We tried to always get a hand in their face and make it tough on their shooters.”

“Coming out we tried to focus on a couple things. We first wanted to step up our intensity. We knew we couldn’t get it all back at once, but we wanted to chip away at the lead. We knew if we were more aggressive we would have a chance.”

“Defense is really what got us started in the second half today. We started off and got a few steals and that really got it rolling for us. We knew how they were hurting us, we just had to match their effort. We really wanted to limit their points in the paint in the second half. The first half the hurt us in the paint (14 points), we really wanted to cut that down and we were able to do that. We were happy with our effort.”
