SAN ANTONIO – Don your favorite boots and cowboy hat Tuesday, May 20, and join the San Antonio Silver Stars at the AT&T Center for opening night against the defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
At the Wild, Wild West-themed game, Tommy Worrell, a cowboy stuntman, who has appeared in movies with such icons as John Wayne and Gene Hackman, will be in attendance to dazzle fans with his six-shooter and his fellow trick ropers. Worrell also will interact with the crowd, teaching those who want to learn how to twirl a rope. Meanwhile, George Chamber’s three-piece band will be roaming the AT&T Center Plaza Level entertaining fans.
Fans who attend the game decked out in their best Western gear have a shot at winning the Best Costume Award for the night, earning a $250 gift card to Cavendar’s.
San Antonio and Phoenix last met at the AT&T Center on Aug. 30 for the Western Conference Finals, ending in a controversial 102-100 Phoenix win in front of nearly 15,000 fans. The Mercury went on to defeat Detroit in the WNBA Finals for their first championship.
