Becky Hammon Named Western Conference Player of the Week
For the week, Hammon averaged 23.3 points on 55.6 percent shooting (20-for-36) with 3.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals. She also shot 66.7 percent (14-for-21) from behind the arc while averaging 4.7 three-pointers per game. Hammon led the Silver Stars to a 2-1 week, including wins at Washington and against Phoenix.
At Washington, Hammon led San Antonio with 22 points while tying season-bests in defensive rebounds (5), total rebounds (5) and steals (3). She then scored a season-high 33 points, including a career-high tying seven 3-point field goals, to lead the Silver Stars to a 102-91 win against Phoenix.
This season, Hammon was named to the Top 15 Player in WNBA history, in celebration of the league’s 15th anniversary. She also earned her seventh-career WNBA All-Star selection and is the only player in WNBA history to be named an All-Star three times with two different teams.
Hammon leads San Antonio with 17.1 points per game, 6.0 assists and a 45.1 shooting percentage from behind the arc. She enters the week leading the WNBA in assists per game and 3-point field goals made (46.0).
