SAN ANTONIO – Becky Hammon will rejoin the San Antonio Silver Stars on Wednesday after completing an off-season stint with CSKA Moscow. Hammon recently signed a contract extension to keep her in San Antonio through 2011.
In 2007, Hammon averaged 18.8 points per game and led the league with 5.0 assists per game, leading her to a first-team All-WNBA nod. She was named the 2007 Express News Sportswoman of the Year and finished second in MVP voting after leading San Antonio to its first playoff appearance since its move from Utah in 2003. After being named to the 2007 West All-Star squad, Hammon became only the second player in WNBA history to earn a starting spot on both the East and West teams in her career.
The Silver Stars open the 2008 season on the road at Sacramento May 17 before hosting the defending WNBA champion Phoenix Mercury on May 20. Affordable full and partial season ticket plans are on sale now. Visit www.sasilverstars.com or call (210) 444.5090 for more information.
