San Antonio Silver Stars Head Coach and General Manager Dan Hughes has today that the team has signed former Silver Stars forward
Agnieszka Bibrzycka to a contract. Per team policy terms of the deal have not been released.
Bibrzycka, better known as “Biba” (BEE-bah), made her WNBA debut with the Silver Stars in 2004. For the season Biba played in 24 games with nine starts, averaging 6.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. She ended up missing the last 10 games of the season to fulfill her obligations with the Polish National Team. San Antonio signed her with the understanding that she would return to Poland the last month of the 2004 campaign to play for the Polish National Team in the 2005 European Championship for Women Qualifiers.
“Biba’s game has continued to improve since she last played in San Antonio and we are very excited to have her back in a Silver Stars uniform,” Hughes said. “One of the areas we wanted to address this offseason was our perimeter shooting and we feel Biba helps us do that.”
The 2003 European Player of the Year has spent the majority of her professional career playing in Europe. A native of Poland, she is currently playing for Lotos Gydnia in the 2006 EuroLeague and in the Polish Women’s League. This season she is averaging 16.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 12 games earning her a spot on the 2006 EuroLeague All-Star Team. This year is Biba’s fifth season in a Lotos Gydnia uniform. She has helped lead the team to the EuroLeague playoffs in each of the previous four seasons, including two trips to the EuroLeague Championship game in 2002 and 2004.
Biba played for the Polish National Team in the 2005 Women’s Eurobasket competition and in the 2001 and 2003 European Championship for Women. In 1998 and 2000 she represented Poland at the European Championship for Junior Women.
