Brian Agler served as assistant coach for the Silver Stars during the previous three seasons. In 2007, he took over head coaching duties while Hughes recovered from Achilles surgery and guided the team to an 8-2 mark from June 16 through the All-Star break. He was instrumental in helping Hughes and the Silver Stars through major improvement during the past three seasons, going from seven wins in 2005 to 13 wins in 2006 and finally 20 wins, along with a Western Conference Finals appearance, in 2007.
