Silver Stars Announce 2013 Schedule

  • SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Silver Stars will tip-off the 2013 season on Memorial Day weekend, hosting the defending champion Indiana Fever on Friday, May 24 at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m. The Friday night opener marks the fifth time in franchise history that the Silver Stars will begin the season at home, dating back to 2003.

    The 34-game schedule features 17 home contests at the AT&T Center. The home schedule is highlighted by a franchise-record 13 weekend contests - five on Friday, four on Saturday and four on Sunday.

    The Silver Stars open 2013 with a season-long three-game home stand from May 24 to June 7. The team then embarks on a three-game road trip from June 9 through June 15 in which it visits Chicago, Minnesota and Los Angeles.

    San Antonio will host a nationally televised game as part of WNBA Tuesdays on ESPN2 when the team welcomes the Phoenix Mercury to the AT&T Center on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m.

    San Antonio hosts New York on July 25 at 11:30 a.m. for its annual camp day game, before breaking for the 2013 WNBA All-Star Game which will be held on July 27 at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena.

    The team faces its busiest month in August, with 12 games - six home games and six road contests. The Silver Stars conclude their regular-season schedule on Sunday, Sept. 15 against Atlanta at the AT&T Center at 3:30 p.m.

    San Antonio qualified for its sixth-consecutive playoff appearance in 2012, compiling a 21-13 regular-season record to finish third in the Western Conference. The Silver Stars posted the franchise's fourth all-time 20-win season while the team's 21 wins were the second-most in franchise history. Included in the win total was a franchise-best 12-game win streak, which spanned from June 24 to August 21, it marked the longest streak in the WNBA for 2012 and tied third-longest in league history.

    The 2013 Silver Stars season - which is presented by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa and HEB - marks the teams 11th year in San Antonio and the 17th season for the WNBA.
