Danielle Robinson and Ann Wauters Named to All-Decade Team

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Silver Stars announced today that guard Danielle Robinson and former center Ann Wauters are the first two All-Decade Team honorees. Robinson and Wauters are two of 10 All-Decade Team members, as selected in a vote by fans, team staff and local and national media to commemorate the Silver Stars 10th Anniversary season.
The youngest member of the All-Decade Team, Robinson made an immediate impact on the Silver Stars franchise after being selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft out of the University of Oklahoma. The 5-9 guard was a unanimous All-Rookie Team selection last season, after leading all rookies in assists per game (3.9) and free throw percentage (90.3). Robinson set a franchise rookie record for single-game scoring with 36 points at Tulsa on Sept. 11, 2011. She has played in 64 career games to date, averaging 8.6 points and 4.0 assists per game.
A member of the 2008 Western Conference Championship squad, Wauters played two seasons with the Silver Stars (2008-09), helping guide the franchise to its only WNBA Finals appearance as the team’s leading rebounder. A native of Belgium, she set the Silver Stars single-game record for field goal percentage with a perfect 9-for-9 performance against Sacramento on Sept. 13, 2008. Wauters played in 61 career games for the Silver Stars, averaging 13.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
The Silver Stars All-Decade Team was compiled to honor the teams ten years in Texas, after the franchise relocated from Utah in 2003. On August, 20, the Silver Stars announced the names of 26 nominees for the All-Decade Team, as selected by team staff. In order to be selected for the ballot, players must have played in a minimum of 50 games with the team between 2003 and 2012. Consideration was also given to factors including on court performance and ability, leadership, sportsmanship and community service, as well as contributions to team success and overall growth of the Silver Stars franchise. The remaining eight All-Decade Team selections will be unveiled in pairs at each of the final four regular-season home games.
