Silver Stars Raise Money for Local Charities with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Breast Health Awareness Game
SAN ANTONIO – The Silver Stars will don pink uniforms in honor of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Breast Health Awareness for their 2 p.m. ESPN2 WNBA Finals re-match with the Detroit Shock Saturday, Aug. 29 at the AT&T Center.
The team will auction off the game-worn pink jerseys immediately following the game with a portion of the proceeds benefiting multiple local breast health charities, including Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing (WINGS), Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation, Alamo City Cancer Council, Support Lending for Emotional Well-Being (SLEW) and the American Cancer Society. Last season, the Silver Stars raised more than $20,000 for breast health charities with the post-game jersey auction.
The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography unit will be at the AT&T Center from 1 to 3 p.m., educating women about early detection and offering screenings on normal tissue for patients who bring a doctor’s order with signature. The CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Mobile Mammography program began in June 2005 and to date approximately 5,600 women have been served through the unit.
Individual tickets for the 2009 Silver Stars season are on sale and can be purchased by phone at 210-444-5090, online at sasilverstars.com or at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekend event days at 10 a.m. All Silver Stars games are broadcast live on KTKR/Ticket 760.
